The Department is planning to take up the following Research Projects.
Collection of Dialect Vocabulary
Sahitya Academy, which was later merged with P. S. Telugu University, has published Occupational Dictionaries. Now the Department of Linguistics plans to take up a project on the Collection of dialect vocabulary which was not included in Occupational Dictionaries.
Digitization of rare books in Telugu
This project aims at providing one thousand rare and important texts of Telugu literature on the net. Brief and elementary introduction of the books and their authors will also be provided. Once the project is completed the corpus will be useful for the researchers working on Telugu Language. The corpus will be mostly useful for lexicographers, language planners, language analysts and structural linguists.
Standardization of Official Communication in Telugu at Mandal Level
The official information pertaining to agriculture, transport, land, irrigation, power, education, industry, banking, cooperative credit societies, health, animal husbandry, handicrafts etc., is available at mandal headquarters. As the administration is to be done in the language of the people i.e., Telugu, it is to be standardized. Official communication in Telugu is the need of the hour. Hence the project is conceived.
